  • Laura J. Zimmermann, MD, DipABLM, MS, FACP

    Dr. Zimmermann is a primary care internist and lifestyle medicine physician. She is an associate professor of Internal Medicine and Family and Preventive Medicine and is currently the Division Chief of General Internal Medicine at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. Dr. Zimmermann founded the Physician Mommies Chicago Facebook group, which includes over 3,200 physician mothers from the Chicagoland area. She is also co-founder and Chief Medical Officer of the Illinois Medical Professionals Action Collaborative Team (IMPACT), an organization leveraging social and other media to fight misinformation and advocate for science-based policy during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Zimmermann has served as the Medical Director of the Rush University Prevention Center, building a multidisciplinary lifestyle medicine clinic that integrates medical and behavioral care to prevent and manage cardiometabolic illness. Dr. Zimmermann also served as the Rush University Medical Group’s Director of Clinical Preventive Medicine, leading interdepartmental quality improvement initiatives in hypertension control, cancer screening, and tobacco cessation. She has presented this work in national venues, including invited talks and webinars for the National Minority Quality Forum and the American Medical Association. Additionally, Dr. Zimmermann holds leadership roles in clinical trials targeting cardiometabolic risk, including the multisite behavioral trial Enhanced Lifestyles for Metabolic Syndrome and the NIH-funded Heart 2 Heart, a community-based participatory research trial partnering with churches to improve health on Chicago’s West Side. She lives in Oak Park, IL, with her husband, science and music writer Rob Mitchum, and their two young sons.

    Dr. Thachil is a board certified non-invasive cardiologist practicing in NYC.

    Her clinical interests including acute cardiovascular care, cardiac critical care, and health disparities.

    In addition to fighting the plague that is cardiovascular disease, she is passionate about advancing womens’ roles in medicine/leadership, as well addressing health disparities in cardiovascular care.

    She is a member of the American College of Cardiology (ACC), American Medical Association, American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA) and Gender Equity Task Force, American Association for Physician Leadership (AAPL), and American Medical Writers Association.

    She currently serves as the co-chair of AMWA’s Gender Equity Task Force, and also serves on ACC’s cardiac critical care leadership council. She is a candidate at Wharton’s executive MBA program (‘25), a Doximity Digital Health fellow (2023), and also holds certificates in physician leadership and bioethics.

    In her free time, Rosy enjoys writing/blogging, international travel, personal development, and music.

    Dr. Christine Gibson is a family physician, trauma therapist, and author of The Modern Trauma Toolkit. You can find her on TiKTok with the handle TikTokTraumaDoc with >130k. Dr. Gibson has a passion for Health Equity and systems change, having created a residency and run programs for and with equity-deserving communities. A lifelong learner, she has a Masters in Medical Education, a Doctorate in Transdisciplinary Studies, and a Diploma in Topical Medicine in addition to being a somatic traumatologist and Ayurvedic counsellor. She runs an international non-profit called the Global Familymed Foundation and a company where she trains professionals on how to manage workplace trauma – Safer Spaces Training (and The Belong Foundation).
