Mark September 17 on your calendar.
National Women in Medicine Day is a national movement to make visible the contributions of women across medicine and healthcare by empowering organizations and communities everywhere to recognize, celebrate, and amplify the women making a difference.
Taking place in the middle of Women in Medicine Month, the day is a moment to recognize, celebrate, and amplify the women who are making a difference across medicine and healthcare.
It creates the moment to highlight so many across the spectrum — the resident who created a new patient-care initiative or nurse who has mentored generations of colleagues, researchers doing important work behind the scenes and the community physician serving an underserved population, a department chair changing institutional culture, the medical student already advocating for patients, or the woman we’ve all seen who has quietly been doing extraordinary work for 20 years without recognition.
There are so many ways to participate!
Organizations can highlight women making an impact within their institutions and communities; share stories of women in medicine at any career stage who are making an impact; recognize mentors and emerging leaders; celebrate teams and accomplishments; or simply use the day to make visible the contributions of women who are changing medicine.
