Women in Medicine®
AN EVOLUTION OF EMPOWERMENT
Women in Medicine® (“WIM”) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to closing the inequitable gender gap in healthcare, not only because it is the right thing to do, but because it directly impacts patient care. WIM offers continuing medical education and longitudinal leadership programming, a research lab, opportunities for thought leadership, formal mentorship and sponsorship, community and network building, and allyship programming for male leaders in healthcare. WIM focuses on educating and empowering women in healthcare and male allies to work towards implementing innovative strategies to eliminate the gender gap utilizing evidence-based research and the amplification of equity initiatives. WIM allows women in healthcare to not only learn the various ways they can effectively address the inequitable treatment of women in medicine, but also connect, collaborate and support each other as we work towards fixing the system.

Testimonials
“I was an attendee last year for the first time and found it to be one of the most inspirational professional society meetings I had attended. I found a group of other women who shared common experiences and I also took away many practical solutions to challenges I was facing in the workplace.”
- Pamela Kunz MD, 2021
“Drs. Smith and Johnson have a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the area, and I learned an incredible amount from them. This program is doing an excellent job of not only creating a curriculum to strengthen the skillsets of male leaders in medicine with regard to allyship, but I think it is the community it is creating that may be even more powerful.”
- Jeremy Yardley MD, 2021 (Leadership Lab)
“Gentlemen, please sign up for this event. There has never been a more critical time for us to understand the barriers that our female colleagues face, to create the tools to engage, and to build the muscles to blast these barriers aside. We have a responsibility to understand this, and to work to get better. Part of our legacy will be to look back on these days and know this is what I did to help.”
- Mark Shapiro MD, 2021
“If you haven’t registered to attend, my only question is: why the heck not? If you’re a woman physician of any specialty, you really oughta be there. If you’re a male physician of any specialty, you really need to be there, because you’ll learn more than at any other conference you’ll likely attend this year.”
- Lt General Mark Hertling, 2021
“The Women in Medicine Summit family has been an incredible source of support for me and for many other members during the thick of the pandemic. I encourage everyone out there to sign up for the summit, not only for its amazing educational content, but also to meet other like-minded women and men who are really trying to push change forward.”
- Jessie Allan MD 2021
“One of my highlights from last year in attending the conference was actually meeting the phycologist [Pauline Clance, Ph.D., ABPP] behind the term ‘Impostor Syndrome’. I got to listen to her speak, I got to meet her, and I got to exchange anecdotes with her - which was incredible.”
- Dana Corriel, Board Certified Internist, former WIM Summit speaker
